Student organizations hold protest march at TU against decision to scrap student unions (Pictures)

Kathmandu, April 28

Various student organizations held a joint protest march on Tuesday at Tribhuvan University in Kirtipur, Kathmandu.

The protest march was organized to protest the government's decision to dissolve Free Student Unions (FSU) and student organizations within school and university premises. The protesters also demanded that the government control the rising inflation.

Furthermore, the students called for an end to the "militarization" of educational institutions, referring to the government's reported preparations to remove student organizations by deploying police units.

Their demands also included the implementation of meritocracy in universities and the continuation of the 45% transport fare discount provided to students.
