The CPN-UML organized an event at the party headquarters in Chyasal on Wednesday to commemorate the 77th foundation day of the Communist Party of Nepal. However, Chairman KP Sharma Oli did not attend the event.
While other senior leaders were present on stage, Oli remained noticeably missing.
In Oli’s absence, the event was presided over by Vice-chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa.
A leader close to Oli said that he could not attend the event due to health reasons.
Oli is still in the recovery phase and resting at home following his recent gallbladder surgery.
Oli was arrested on March 28 on charges of causing death due to negligence during the Gen Z movement.
He was admitted to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital following health complications. Later, gallstones were detected in his gallbladder during a medical examination.
Doctors then performed a surgery on him to remove the gallstones. He was discharged from the hospital after a few days.
