Nominations are being filed on Thursday afternoon for the positions of chairpersons of various thematic committees under the House of Representatives.
The time for filing nominations is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Nepali Congress is fielding a candidate for the position of chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee.
Lawmaker Bharat Bahadur Khadka will be the party’s candidate for the position.
The ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and opposition parties CPN-UML and Nepali Communist Party have also decided to support the NC candidate.
Meanwhile, candidates from the RSP have filed nominations for the chairs of 11 other House committees.
The RSP candidates are as follows:
- Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee – Samiksha Baskota
- Agriculture, Cooperatives, and Natural Resources Committee – Ashok Kumar Chaudhary
- Infrastructure Development Committee – Ashish Gajurel
- Women and Social Affairs Committee – Akriti Awasthi
- State Affairs and Good Governance Committee – Hari Dhakal
- Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee – Ojaswi Sherchan
- Parliamentary Hearing Committee – Bodh Narayan Shrestha
- Industry, Commerce, Labor, and Consumer Welfare Committee – Rahbar Ansari
- Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation of the Implementation of the Directive Principles, Policies, and Obligations of the State – Ganesh Karki
- International Relations and Tourism Committee – Sumnima Udas
- Finance Committee – Krishna Hari Budhathoki
