Newly-elected lawmakers take oath (Pictures)

The newly-elected members of the House of Representatives have taken their oath of office and secrecy.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday at a temporary structure within the Parliament building premises in Singha Durbar. Since the construction of the permanent Parliament building has not yet been completed, the temporary facility was prepared specifically for the oath-taking ceremony.

The senior-most member of the House, Arjun Narsingh KC, administered the oath to the lawmakers.

Parliamentary sessions will continue to be held in this temporary structure until the new Parliament building is ready.
