Bidya Bhandari inaugurates liaison office in Kathmandu (Pictures)

Kathmandu, Aug 21

Former president Bidya Devi Bhandari has inaugurated a liaison office in Thapagaun, Kathmandu.

Bhandari has rented the house of Bidur Mainali, former deputy mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, to establish a secretariat for the Madan Bhandari diamond jubilee main management committee.

CPN-UML Senior Vice-chairman Ishwar Pokharel also attended the event.

Despite the UML central committee’s decision to bar her from returning to politics, Bhandari has been actively engaged in political activities as a former UML vice-chairperson.

On June 28, Pokharel also spoke at an event organized on the occasion of Madan Bhandari’s 74th birth anniversary.

On the same day, Bhandari announced her return to active UML politics and said that her party membership had been renewed.

However, the UML says that following the central committee meeting’s decision to prohibit her from returning to politics, Bhandari’s membership was not automatically renewed.
