The mortal remains of leftist leader Pradeep Nepal have been taken to Pashupati Aryaghat for his last rites.
Nepal, also a former minister, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday at Norvic Hospital. He was 71.
Upon hearing the news of his demise, Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh, Defense Minister Manbir Rai, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's political advisor Bishnu Rimal, and others visited Norvic Hospital and met with the grieving family members.
Nepal's body was not kept for public tributes. His mortal remains were taken directly to Pashupati Aryaghat from the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
Nepal had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease and other ailments for a long time.
As his condition worsened, he became inactive in politics.
Nepal was born in 1953. He served as the minister for communications in 1994 when the then CPN-UML chairman Manmohan Adhikari was the prime minister. Later, he also served as the education minister.
He was part of the coordination center committee formed in Dhanusha in 1978. After that, he continuously remained in the party's central committee.
However, he could no longer remain active in politics after 2014 because of his health.
