Government cut fee for PCR test to Rs 2,000

The government has halved fee of PCR test to Rs 2,000. It cost Rs 4,400 until now.

Health Ministry Spokesperson Dr Jageshwore Gautam said government and private hospitals and laboratories can now charge a maximum of Rs 2,000 for every PCR test. They were allowed to charge up to Rs 4,400 until now.

The ministry said the fee has been slashed as availability of kits has eased and their cost fallen across the globe.

The ministry two weeks back had slashed fee by Rs 1,100 from Rs 5,500.
