Province 1 has urged the central governemt to immediately shut down all the border points with India.
A meeting of the committee for prevention and control of coronavirus pandemic chaired by Chief Minister Sher Dhan Rai has taken the decision considering the risks of infection, according to Social Development Minister Jivan Ghimire.
"We have decided to stop movement of commoners to both the sides apart from supply of essential goods for now. We have requested the central government for that," Ghimire stated.
Province 1 has border points with India at Kakarbhitta, Pashupatinagar, Bhadrapur and Biratnagar.
The meeting also decided to start a temporary 50-bed hospital with ventilators at the building of National Trading in Biratnagar within a week. "We will complete the hospital deploying army and police personnel within a week," he added.
The provincial assembly meeting has also been postponed indefinitely.
