Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada has resigned on Tuesday. His resignation has already reached the President's Office.
Chief Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi handed over the resignation letter to the President's Office in the afternoon.
Khatiwada will again be sworn in as finance minister on Wednesday. "He will not be sworn in today itself. He is likely to be sworn in only tomorrow afternoon," a source at the President's Office confided with Setopati.
Khatiwada reached the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) to meet Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli after resigning.
Khatiwada was nominated to the National Assembly by the president on recommendation of the government two years back. He got a two-year term when lotteries were drawn for National Assembly members. His two-year term ends today.
The Constitution allows a person to become minister without even being federal lawmaker for six months. Khatiwada will be reappointed minister as per that provision.
